Planning future visits

How often should you get a massage?

There is no massage schedule that everyone needs to follow. For relaxation, book when you want a session and can comfortably fit it into your budget. If you are trying massage, start with one visit and decide afterward whether you would like another.

The short answer

How often should you get a massage? There is no universal weekly or monthly recommendation for general relaxation. Start with one appointment, notice how you feel afterward, and decide whether another visit is worthwhile for you. Persistent or recurring pain needs medical advice rather than a schedule based on a website.

Massage frequency

Is there a recommended massage schedule?

You do not have to get a massage every week or every month to enjoy it. For general relaxation, the choice depends on what you like, what fits your schedule and what you can afford.

Some people prefer a regular appointment; others book occasionally. A calendar interval is a personal choice. It is not evidence that your body needs massage on that schedule.

Your preferences

Start with your reason for booking

If you want time to relax, think about when an appointment would be most enjoyable. If you want attention to everyday muscle tension, explain the area and the pressure you prefer.

If you are hoping to address an injury or persistent pain, speak with a health care provider first. They can help you decide whether massage is appropriate and how it fits with your care.

For a first visit

Book one session before deciding on future visits. Notice whether you felt comfortable during the appointment, whether you enjoyed it and whether the cost felt worthwhile. You can use that experience to choose your next step.

You can enjoy a massage occasionally without committing to a regular schedule.

Massage research

What does research say about repeated massage?

NCCIH’s massage overview describes research involving different conditions and treatment schedules. Findings from one study cannot tell every reader how often to book a wellness massage.

NCCIH’s chronic pain summary notes that results vary by the health problem studied. For some problems, evidence is limited or benefits may be short term. A good experience after one appointment does not establish how long future effects will last.

AMTA’s massage and health overview discusses massage as part of health and wellness. It does not set a schedule for everyone to follow.

Recurring pain

What if the same area keeps hurting?

Recurring pain is a reason to ask about the cause. Do not automatically book closer together or request stronger pressure. Tell a health care provider how long the problem has been happening and whether it is changing.

NCCIH’s low-back pain guidance explains that recommendations depend on the type and duration of pain. Massage is not a substitute for medical care, and a wellness appointment should not delay an assessment.

If massage is appropriate for you, share any instructions from your provider with the therapist. Our deep tissue page explains the available session lengths; pressure should always be discussed separately.

Relaxation

How often can you book for relaxation?

Choose a schedule that feels useful without becoming another obligation. You might prefer an occasional appointment during a busy period or a regular time you set aside for yourself. You can change that choice as your needs change.

Massage may help with relaxation and everyday muscle tension. It is one possible part of your routine. Make time for the other habits and support that help you manage stress.

If sleep is your main concern, read massage for stress and sleep. Feeling relaxed after a session does not show that massage can treat a sleep disorder.

Your budget

Set a budget before choosing a schedule

At Crystal Massage, body massage costs $50 for 30 minutes or $70 for 60 minutes. A 30-minute foot massage is $30. Compare the full menu prices before planning repeated appointments.

Think about travel and time away from other plans as well as the session price. You can choose a shorter visit, leave more time between appointments or book only occasionally. None of those choices needs an explanation.

Your next visit

How to decide whether to book again

Ask yourself whether you enjoyed the session, whether the pressure was comfortable and whether another visit fits your budget. Tell the therapist what you would change next time. If you have ongoing soreness or worsening symptoms, get medical advice before another appointment.

Crystal Massage is open seven days. See opening hours and call (316) 246-3999 to check availability. You can also book online through Vagaro.

Compare massage lengths or read about foot massage and reflexology if you want a different kind of visit. The studio overview has local service information.

FAQ

More questions

How often should you get a massage for relaxation?

+

There is no universal schedule. Book when you want an appointment and it fits your time and budget. Starting with one visit can help you decide whether you would like another.

Is once a month the right schedule?

+

It can be a convenient personal routine, but it is not a requirement or a research-backed recommendation for everyone. Occasional appointments are also an option.

Can you get a massage too often?

+

Repeated sessions may be inappropriate if you are sore, injured or have a health condition that affects massage safety. Allow symptoms to be assessed and ask your health care provider about a suitable plan.

Will more frequent massage make the results last longer?

+

That cannot be promised. Research involves different health concerns and schedules, and it does not establish that increasing visits produces lasting benefits for everyone.

Do I need an appointment?

+

Call (316) 246-3999 to check availability and book a time. Please mention if you're booking for two people. You can also book online through Vagaro.

Where do I park?

+

Park in the free plaza lot in front of Crystal Massage at 8338 E 21st St, Suite #311, Wichita, KS 67206. Look for Suite 311 in The Shops at Tallgrass, on the north side of 21st Street just east of Rock Road.

Is massage a replacement for medical care?

+

No. Massage may help with relaxation and everyday muscle tension, but it is not a substitute for medical care. If you have a health condition, a recent injury or severe or persistent pain, ask a clinician whether massage is suitable before booking.
